How it works...

On the top, on either side of the cord, there is an "S" for summer or the months from late spring to early fall months. On the other side, a "W" for winter - late fall to early spring months.

On sunny days, suspend the dial by its black satin cord and aim the hole toward the sun.  Face the hole corresponding to the time of year towards the sun. A ray of sunlight will shine through to illuminate a number on the inside of the dial, showing the time of day!
